TikTok Shop for premium brands: selling without discounting
RRP protection, value-led offers and professional-led LIVE for brands that cannot afford to look cheap.
TikTok Shop rewards newness, but new products take months. Bundles take a week. Here is the AOV playbook behind an $80 average order at world-record scale.
TikTok Shop is a channel that runs on newness. The algorithm rewards it, LIVE audiences expect it and creators need it to keep content fresh. The problem is that real newness, actual new product development, moves on a calendar measured in months or years. Formulation, testing, packaging, compliance: you cannot ship novelty every week from an NPD pipeline.
You can from a bundle plan. When your NPD calendar is many months long, bundles become your NPD. A new set built from the existing range is a new SKU, a new price point, a new story for hosts and creators to tell, and it can go from idea to on-shelf in days. That is why the best-trading shops on the platform drop at least one new thematic bundle every single week, and why the bundle sits at the top of our conversion playbook.
When a brand needs to lift conversion on TikTok Shop, there is a hierarchy of mechanics, and every rung down it costs more brand equity than the last.
Most shops run this ladder upside down. They open with the flash sale, burn the margin and the brand equity, and never build the basket architecture that makes the channel sustainable. The bundle-first approach does the opposite: it makes AOV, not discount depth, the number every offer is designed against.
Discounting grows orders by shrinking each one. Bundling grows the order itself. The difference shows up brutally at scale.
$80 That was the average order value across the P.Louise LIVE that broke the single-event world record on TikTok Shop, $2.7m of GMV in one broadcast. Look inside that event and the pattern is unmistakable: every top-ten SKU was a bundle or set, priced 30 to 50% below the sum of its parts but well above any single-product price. Tiered price points covered the whole room, an entry set around £15, a mid tier around £60 and hero sets at £100 plus, so every viewer had a basket worth building, whatever their budget.
The tiered price architecture from the record LIVE: entry, mid and hero sets covering the whole room.
This is not a one-event fluke. Across our managed portfolio the same architecture held a £65 ($87) average order value, in a channel where impulse buys of a single £12 product are the default behaviour. The bundle is the machine that turns a £12 intent into a £65 basket. And when P.Louise needed to scale from a record LIVE to a £10m+ month, the answer was not deeper discounts, it was value-led promotion, GWP and multi-buy mechanics replacing flash sales entirely, protecting AOV all the way through the biggest trading month in the shop's history. Read the £10m month case study, or see how the same trading discipline runs across our shop operations work.
A bundle does not sell because it is cheap per unit. It sells because someone explains why the products belong together, and that is an education job. It is also exactly what LIVE does better than any other format. Skincare and beauty at real depth need explanation, and explanation is what a trained host delivers hour after hour on our TikTok LIVE engines.
We call the core move the routine walk-up. A viewer arrives for a £12 cleansing pad. A host who knows the products cold walks them through the routine that pad belongs to: the serum that follows it, the cream that seals it, the mask that finishes the week. By the end of the segment the viewer is not buying a pad, they are buying a £90 routine. Same traffic, five times the basket. LIVE is the format built to sell the routine, not the product, and routine builders, AM and PM sets, tiered kits and live-only editions are how the walk-up gets packaged.
Gift with purchase then stacks on the bundle rather than competing with it. A confirmed pool of gift items sits on top of the set price, and spend thresholds pull baskets upward: cross this line and the gift comes with it. High-entry giveaways do the same job, where qualifying for the draw requires a basket worth entering with. Every mechanic points at the same number, and that number is AOV.
None of this works if bundles are priced on vibes. Every offer should be modelled against a target contribution margin before it goes on air: the blended margin of the set, the deepest viable saving the margin can carry, and the sales uplift required to justify the promotional investment. We run this through a dedicated offer-planning process for every account our TikTok Shop management team trades, and the principle matters more than the tooling. A bundle should feel generous to the customer and look disciplined on the P&L, and if it cannot do both, it does not run.
Here is the part most brands miss: a weekly bundle cadence is also a live research programme. Each drop is a test of a theme, a price point and a product combination, read against real revenue within days. Over a quarter you learn which routines your audience actually builds, which price tiers they jump to, which contextual stories, travel, bridal, gifting, seasonal, pull the room, and which creator-led edits outsell anything the brand names itself. The L'Oréal launch we ran for Mugler proved the point perfectly: the single biggest GMV lift of the whole event was a creator-fronted bundle built entirely from the existing range. Not a new SKU. Not a flash sale. A bundle with a story.
That intelligence should flow straight back into the real NPD calendar. The bundle that keeps selling out is a product brief. The routine your audience assembles every week is a kit waiting to be manufactured. Bundles are your NPD twice over: they are the newness that fills the calendar today, and the data that decides what you build next.
If you sell premium and worry this means discounting by another name, it does not. The same architecture is exactly how high-end brands protect price on the platform, and we covered that side of the play in premium on TikTok Shop, without the discount.
