tiktok shop statistics 2026.

Every number on this page comes from platform data we work with daily or from Somerce client results. Each one is dated, sourced and given the context that makes it useful, not just quotable.

Most TikTok Shop statistics pages are lists of numbers with no dates and no sources. This one is different. We run TikTok Shop for 80+ brands, we hold the platform's single-LIVE record, and the figures below are the ones we actually use to plan channels. Where a stat comes from platform research, we say so. Where it comes from our own client work, we say that too. And where a number is clearly a snapshot in time, we tell you when it was taken.

1. TikTok Shop is an acquisition channel, not a cannibal

75%+of TikTok Shop buyers are net-new to the brands they buy from.

This is the single most important statistic in this article, because it answers the question every DTC and retail brand asks first: will TikTok Shop just cannibalise my existing customers? The data says no. Three out of four buyers who purchase a brand on TikTok Shop have never bought that brand before. In our own client work the pattern holds: TikTok Shop behaves like a discovery engine with a checkout attached, which is why we plan it as an acquisition channel first and model repeat purchase as the second-order win.

2. The discovery numbers: search has moved

4B+beauty-related searches have been made on TikTok Shop.

Four billion beauty searches is not a social media statistic. It is a retail search statistic, of the kind we used to associate only with Google and Amazon. Shoppers now open TikTok with purchase intent already formed, which is a large part of why beauty is the category we run hardest. It changes how listings need to be written: titles optimised for shop-tab search, images built for the swipe, and product pages that close the sale a video started.

The behavioural funnel behind that search volume is unusually complete:

discover consider purchase 88% 76% 73% The discovery-to-purchase funnel barely leaks on TikTok.

Discovery to purchase: 88% discover, 76% consider, 73% buy after watching.

Read those three numbers together and the story is discovery-to-purchase compression. On most channels the gap between "saw it" and "bought it" leaks badly. On TikTok, where every video is shoppable and the checkout is two taps away, the funnel barely leaks at all.

3. The halo effect: TikTok lifts search everywhere else

2.5xmore likely to search for a brand after seeing it on TikTok than on other social platforms.

TikTok Shop revenue is only part of what the channel produces. The same study found that 80% of users discover new brands more often since joining TikTok, 74% purchase beauty products online more often, and 45% of social-driven fragrance purchases are generated by TikTok. In practice this means brands running serious TikTok Shop programmes should expect measurable lift in branded search, DTC traffic and retail sell-through. When we build channel strategy for premium clients, we deliberately design for that spillover so retailers capture their share of the demand rather than fighting the channel.

4. LIVE commerce benchmarks: what good actually looks like

The record is the headline, but the benchmarks underneath it are more useful if you are planning a LIVE programme. From our client data across daily and showcase formats:

£300 £600 £4,000+ £20,000+ daily · month 1 daily · month 6 showcase peak campaign

GMV per hour of airtime, the benchmark ladder from daily engines to peak campaign showcases. Bar heights indicative, not to scale.

One more benchmark worth knowing: the best self-operated LIVE engines we track generate over 20% of total shop revenue from their own broadcasts, while most brands sit in low single digits. That gap is the opportunity. It is exactly the engine we build in our TikTok LIVE service, and you can see it compound in the P.Louise record LIVE and in Glow For It's 400% growth year, which included a £100k single LIVE for a lash brand. 5. The affiliate ecosystem has industrialised

600K+affiliates are now active on TikTok Shop.

Two years ago, affiliate recruitment on TikTok Shop was a land grab. In 2026 it is a managed discipline. With more than 600,000 affiliates on the platform, the winners are not the brands with the most creators but the brands with the best-run communities: structured recruitment across multiple channels, tested hooks, sample logistics and retention programmes that keep creators posting month after month. Category commission benchmarks in UK beauty currently sit in the 5 to 10% range, and top shops in the category generate tens of thousands of new affiliate videos every month. The scale is the point: affiliate volume warms the audience that LIVE and paid then convert, which is why we run affiliate management and LIVE as one connected engine rather than two line items.

6. Affiliate content now drives the GMV, not just the buzz

~42%of US TikTok Shop GMV is driven by affiliate creator content.

Nearly half the money moving through US TikTok Shop is generated by commissioned creators rather than brand-owned content or ads. That single share explains most of the strategic advice on this site: if affiliates drive the revenue, then recruitment volume, brief quality, sample logistics and retention are not marketing hygiene, they are the P&L. It also reframes the budget conversation. A brand spending heavily on brand-account content while running a token affiliate programme is optimising the minority channel. The UK mix is following the same curve, which is why the fastest-growing UK shops are the ones industrialising their creator communities now, before their competitors do.

What to do with these numbers

Statistics are only useful if they change a decision. Here is how we would use these ones:

  1. Fund TikTok Shop from your acquisition budget, not your retention budget. The 75%+ net-new figure makes it a customer acquisition channel with a payback you can measure at the order level.
  2. Treat search on TikTok as seriously as search on Google. Four billion beauty searches means listings, titles and PDPs are now an SEO discipline of their own.
  3. Benchmark LIVE on GMV per hour, not viewers or likes. £300 per hour is a fair month-one target for a daily engine; anything structurally below that means the funnel, the offer or the host needs fixing.
  4. Measure the halo. If branded search and retail sell-through are not being tracked alongside shop GMV, the channel will always look smaller than it is.

We update this page as new platform data lands. If you want these benchmarks applied to your own category, talk to us and we will show you the numbers behind the numbers.
